Kehrwiedergasse

History

A small alley branching off from Böttchergasse was called Kleine Kehrwiedergasse in 1776 and later just Kehrwiedergasse. This name is again ironic – in High German, it means dead-end street. After the war, the alley existed for a few more years under the name ul. Zawrotna (Umkehrgasse) before disappearing due to the redevelopment of the old town. The name Große Ölmühlengasse was also used from 1511 to 1624. Similarly, Mauergang around 1796 and Herrengarten in the 18th century until 1817.
