Althof

History

This street was actually the path to one of the farms on the Strohdeich. Built up during the course of the 19th century, it bore two names until around 1902: the smaller section (house numbers 1 to 3) was called Polnischer Haken (Polish Hook), the larger one (house numbers 5 to 13) Kalkofen (Lime Kiln). Today the entire area is shipyard grounds.
