Am Lazarett

History

This lane was only created after the demolition of the ramparts, from part of Am Olivaer Tor street and newly gained land. Until 1909 it was called Am Lazarett (At the Hospital) after the neighboring city hospital. The 1918 residents' directory gives the name form Hinterm Lazarett (Behind the Hospital). It was later renamed Hansagasse. After the war it was renamed ul. Kupiecka (Merchant Lane), but after the demolition of the ruins still standing there, it was abolished entirely. After some time, however, around the mid-1960s, an office complex was built here, whose two buildings bear the address ul. Kupiecka. The old street pavement is still present and clearly visible to this day.
