Bäckergasse

n. e.

History

Bäckergasse (Bakers' Lane) is first mentioned in the hereditary book in 1619. Initially the name also applied to Plappergasse. By 1624, a distinction was already being made between Kleine (Small) and Große (Large) Bäckergasse. Around 1650, the name Plappergasse prevailed. At the end of the 18th century, a street formed in the area known as Eimermacherhof, for which the name Große Bäckergasse developed between 1800 and 1817.
