Bischofsgasse
Na Stoku
History
This lane was counted as part of Schwarzes Meer ("Black Sea," a street name) without a name of its own, until it was separated from it in 1884 under its current designation, derived from its location near the Bischofsberg ("Bishop's Hill"). The name simply reflects the fact that the lane led to the Bischofsberg.
Between 1920 and 1937, it was renamed "Grenadiergasse" (Grenadier Lane) after the barracks of the former 5th Grenadier Regiment located here.
