Böttchergasse

Böttiger Gasse, Neue Gasse In Der Olden Stadt
History
In 1462, this street was referred to as "nuwe Gasse in der olden Stat" (new alley in the old town). In the inheritance records of the 16th and 17th centuries, it was already called Böttigergasse or Neue Gasse (New Alley). At the end of the 18th century, the name Böttchergasse applied only to the section from Pfefferstadt to Paradiesgasse, while the stretch from there to Bartholomäi-Kirchgasse was counted as part of Pferdetränke. Since the beginning of the 19th century, the name has been used in its present extent. After the war, the street retained its name in Polish translation.
