Einhorngasse

The designation platea quinta comes from the fact that initially the streets on Speicherinsel (Granary Island) were numbered, once from the north toward Milchkannengasse, and a second time starting at Milchkannengasse heading south. Thus our alley was simply called Fifth Street. Both later names derive from granaries that stood here. Today its name translates to Oat Lane.
