Grabengasse

This alley, through the middle of which, as so often in the Lower Town, a drainage ditch ran lengthwise, came into being around 1650. The southern part of the alley was already called Kranichgasse (Crane Lane) in 1650, while the northern part remained unnamed. In 1800 it was entirely counted as part of Allmodengasse, and around 1817, together with Grüner Weg, it was called Letzter Graben (Last Ditch). The name Grabengasse (Ditch Lane) appeared in 1886.
