Grenadiergasse
History
This alley was originally counted as part of Schwarzes Meer (Black Sea). Only in 1884 was it split off under the name Bischofsgasse (Bishop's Lane). The name probably comes from the fact that it led to the Bischofsberg (Bishop's Hill). Between 1920 and 1937 it was renamed to Grenadiergasse (Grenadier Lane), after the barracks of the former 5th Grenadier Regiment located here.
