Grüner Weg

History

This lane, like most in the Lower Town, was created around the middle of the 17th century. Initially, the section between Abeggasse and Grabengasse was called Bärengasse (Bear Lane), while the rest was called Läwgasse. From 1763, it was then called Letzter Graben (Last Ditch), to which the neighboring Grabengasse was also added from 1817. In 1881, it received its final name Grüner Weg (Green Way). Since the war, it has been called Green Lane in translation.
