History
As a street name, the designation Kaninchenberg (Rabbit Hill) has only been in use for the associated properties since 1854; before that date, they were counted as part of the Sandgrube (Sand Pit). The direction of the street was determined by a branch off the main road, already mentioned in 1635 as a path through the Sandgrube.
Kaninchenberg was originally part of the Sandgrube, more precisely a branch off the main road there, which was already mentioned in 1684. It is probably identical with the Pfaffengasse (Priests' Lane) that appears in records from 1713. From 1854 onward, it was listed as Kaninchenberg. The post-war Polish name translates to "Little Hill."
