Kohlentor

History

This lane is located at the very spot where the Kohlentor (Coal Gate) once stood in the wall of the Teutonic Order's castle. This gate still existed around the middle of the 17th century. Kohlentor as a lane name has been in use since 1845. After the war the street still existed for some time under the old name translated into Polish, Węglowa Brama, before disappearing in the course of the area's redevelopment.
