Kuschenecke

In this lane, traversed lengthwise by a ditch, the two sides were initially named differently: the northern side 1st Grabengasse (Ditch Lane), the southern side 1st Adebargasse (Stork Lane). In the second half of the 18th century the entire lane was then called Kuschenecke. This expression could have been derived either from a personal name or from the Prussian dialect word Kosch or Kusch = pig. From 1814 it was then called Mittelgasse (Middle Lane). Between 1910 and 1935 the Mittelgasse and Strandgasse were merged and then listed under the name Strandgasse (Beach Lane) until 1945.
