Lange Reihe
Stągiewna
History
The first two names were borrowed from the contemporary designation for the Neue Mottlau, which was called Cloaca or Priveta. The insula in the third name refers to the Werder. The next two names applied to the section between the Grüne Brücke (Green Bridge) and Hopfengasse. After 1643 the name Judengasse was transferred to the later Speichergasse. From 1643 onward the lane was then increasingly referred to uniformly and along its entire length as Milchkannengasse or Lange Reihe. Of these, the former prevailed in the 19th century. It derives from the gate called Milchkanne (Milk Jug), which had closed off this lane toward the Neue Mottlau since the 14th century.
