Nätlergasse
Igielnicka
Acuficum platea
History
The oldest inheritance register already contains multiple mortgage entries for properties on the "platea acuficum" (Latin for "street of the needle smiths") between 1361 and 1367. However, since the volume in question otherwise mentions only properties in the Rechtstadt (Main Town), it is uncertain whether the Old Town's Natlergasse is meant, or whether the designation refers to a Rechtstadt street later known by a different name.
The name "Nadlergasse" is only securely documented for the Old Town's Natlergasse from 1565 onward. The name derives from the Nadler (needle makers) who practiced their trade here.
