Neunaugengasse

Initially, the Tagnetergasse and Neunaugengasse were collectively called Tendelmarkt. While this name also became established for the Tagnetergasse, the name Neunaugengasse — documented since 1633 — emerged for this lane. According to W. Stephan, it was derived from the lampreys offered for sale here by hucksters.
