Paulsgasse

n. e.

History

In the Petershagen property register, the area is referred to in 1761 simply as "Petershagen behind the guardhouse." The present-day name derives from a property owner named David Paultzen, who owned houses Nos. 3 to 5 around 1796.

Paulsgasse was thus a comparatively recent designation, only emerging toward the end of the 18th century and derived from a property owner -- a quite common method of street naming in Danzig.
