Reitergasse
Ułańska
History
On a plan from around 1650, the lane – including today's Hühnergasse – was initially designated as 1st–3rd Reutergasse. By 1763, the name was already restricted to its later extent. It derives from military units quartered here as part of the garrison, which had been stationed in this area since 1629. After the war, the lane was temporarily called ul. Szwoleżerów, after a mounted troop, before finally being renamed ul. Ułańska (Uhlan Lane) – also named after a mounted troop.
