Schüsseldamm
History
Laid out as a causeway between the Young City and Old City, it was mentioned in 1402 under the designation "nuwe gasse geende von dem hakelwerke off unsir junge stadt" (new lane going from the Hakelwerk to our Young City). Later it was listed under the designation "nuwer tam," which also included Tischlergasse. The name Schüsseldamm appears since 1565 and goes back to the bowl turners residing here, who in Danzig had formed a guild together with the chair and block turners since 1526.
