Steingasse
History
This street was only created around 1648. Initially it bore the name Steinstraße (Stone Street), since, in contrast to the neighboring Kleine Knüppelgasse, it was paved. This name also encompassed the later Krausebohnengasse. The later name Zapfengasse is said not to derive from the tap (Zapfen, in the brewery located here), but from Zacharias Zappio, who owned the brewery. This name was pronounced as "Zappe" by the Bovkes.
