Stiftsgasse
Fundacja
History
Stiftsgasse (Foundation Lane) was not laid out until the 19th century, after the so-called Letzte Graben (Last Ditch) had been filled in. In its place later rose the block of houses that separates the Gruner Weg from the Stiftsgasse.
Initially - in 1881 - it was designated as Stiftsgang (Foundation Passage), named after the houses of the Reinicke Foundation located here. From around 1900 it was listed as Stiftsgasse.
After the war it was first given the Polish name Fundacja (Foundation), and since 1947 it has been called ul. Fundacyjna, which likewise means Foundation Lane.
