Strandgasse
Dolna
History
Around 1650, the side of the lane facing Langgarten bore the name Zweite Grabengasse (Second Ditch Lane). The opposite side, separated from it by a water ditch, was called Zweite Adebargasse (Second Stork Lane - Adebar being an old word for stork).
On maps from the late 18th century, the entire lane appears under the name Schilfgasse (Reed Lane) - a designation that in the 17th century had actually applied to the adjoining section of the Weidengasse. Only from 1814 does the name Strandgasse (Beach Lane) appear on maps, a name that had previously served as an alternative designation for the Huhnergasse. At the same time, the name Schilfgasse shifted to its present area of use.
Between 1910 and 1935, Mittelgasse and Strandgasse were merged and listed under the name Strandgasse until 1945.
