Taubenwasserweg

History

This street led from Zoppot to the Taubenwasser forestry house, which was the destination of very popular Sunday excursions. After the war, the street was named after March 23, the day the Red Army occupied Zoppot. On July 31, 2017, it was renamed to Street of March 23. This time, however, not in honor of the "liberation" of Zoppot by the Red Army, but in honor of the "Day of Polish-Hungarian Friendship." This renaming became necessary because of a newly enacted "Law on Decommunization of the Country" in Poland — whatever that may mean.
