Wiebenwall

Okopowa

History

This street, newly created on former rampart terrain, received its name in 1903 when Bastion Wieben was demolished. The bastion's name goes back to Adam Wijbe, who built it in 1646. To speed up the construction work, Wijbe designed a cable car from the nearby Bischofsberg to the bastion under construction.

After the war, the streets Karrenwall and Wiebenwall were merged into Okopowa.
