Am Stein

History

Until the 18th century, this street was partly considered part of Rammbau and partly part of Hakelwerk. The earliest mention of its own name dates back to 1778. The name probably derives from the corrupted Slavic word "Stajnia" (stable). As early as the 13th century, inns were legally required under Polish law to provide lodging and accommodation to officials. It is possible that the inns of Hakelwerk were located here.
